Halacali is a group of two Japanese singers: Halca and Yucali
Group name:
Halacali is formed from two first names of singers (Halca + cali = Halcali!)
The genesis of Halcali:
Halca was born on 21 April 1988 and Yucali on July 18 1988. They are both from Meguro (a district of Tokyo), where they attended since childhood the same dance school. Their first group was called Candy Hearts.
After earning their degree in 2002 Halca and Yucal came at an audition organized by the rap group Rip Slyme. It is a kind of japenese "In search of the new star" during which they were selected to form a group.
Halcali was born on 26 July 2002 signing their first contract with the record track Oshare Factory.
The first titles:
The first single "Tandem" was released in January 2003. The video was broadcast on Japanese TV as well as on MTV. It reached the nineteenth place in the Japanese charts.
The following album (Halcali Bacon) reached the fifth of the charts. It was the first time a group of hip hop female entered the japenese top ten.
Le style d'Halcali: Halcali style:
The group initially focused on rap went to hip hop or rather Jpop (Japenese pop music). Their style is caracterised by its musical but also visual (in their videos) inventivity. They do not hesitate to combine their basic music hip hop elements with other musical styles. They are trying in every way, and this feels a lot in their videos, to produce positive and cheerful atmosphere.
Halcali today:
Halcali is now (and since 2005) under contract with Epic Records. Their career took since 2005 internationnale scope. It appeared in shows in the USA and came to sing in France during the festival of music.
